BUHS Graduate Shuaib Appointed as Deputy Minister of Health and Social Care of Hirshabelle State of Somalia

Former international student of Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) Shuaib Hassan Mohamed has been appointed as a Deputy Minister of Health and Social Care of Hirshabelle State of Somalia. He successfully obtained BPH (Hons) degree in Reproductive & Child Health from BUHS in 2021. He has been designated in recognition of his magnificent contributions to socio-political arena and extraordinary organizational talent.

Recent Achievements 2023

BUHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Faridul Alam congratulated Shuiab Hassan Mohamed for the position and hoped that he would contribute to the healthcare and social development of his country and of the world. Prof Dr Md. Anower Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Public Health and Prof Dr Begum Rowshan Ara, Head, Dept of RCH also congratulated Mohamed. BUHS family members are overwhelmed with joy for his tremendous achievement.

The Faculty of Public Health of BUHS signed a Contract with JICA:
Prof Dr. Md. Anower Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Public Health and Head, Department of Community Dentistry of BUHS and his team made a contract with Masako Sasaki, JICA Deputy Chief Advisor and Masuyama Chika, Coordinator, for The Project ‘Capacity Building of Nursing Services’.

Recent Achievements 2023

The contract signing ceremony was held on 19 June, 2022 at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor, BUHS. Honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Faridul Alam, Prof Dr. Pradip Kumar Sen Gupta, Head, Department of Epidemiology, Dr Mithila Faruque, Head, Department of Non-communicable Diseases and Dr. Khan Sarfaraz Ali, Additional Director of Public Relation & Promotion of the University were present on the occasion.

Recent Achievements  

Prof Dr Faridul Alam expressed his firm optimism at the ceremony. He stated, “this contract between the two institutions will strengthen bilateral relations in multiple areas of education and research”. He congratulated Masako and Masuyama and appreciated Prof Hussain and his team for this achievement.

Educational institution-based material healthcare activities
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Center for Global Health Research, Bangladesh Diabetic Association and Kalyanpur Girls High School and College on 12 October, 2022 to initiate Comprehensive Healthcare among school and college students. Honorable Member of Parliament of Dhaka 14 Constituency Mr. Aga Khan Mintu, President of Bangladesh Diabetic Association National Professor AK Azad Khan, Secretary General of Bangladesh Diabetic Association Md Sayef Uddin were present at the event.
