Ten nurses of Ibrahim Cardiac, NHN and BIHS were given Mahbub-u-Zzaman Award-2013, for special contribution to nursing profession at a function organized by Bangladesh Diabetic Association at BIRDEM in the city on 12 May 2013, Sunday with president of the association Professor AK Azad Khan in the chair.
Minister for Social Welfare Enamul Huq Mostofa Shahid was the chief guest while the secretary general of diabetic association Saifuddin, Mahbubuzzaman and Director General of BIRDEM Nazmun Nahar spoke at the function.
This award is given annually to 10 nurses working in BIRDEM and other hospitals for their special contribution to nursing as a profession. Each recipient of the award is given a crest, a certificate and cash of Tk. 10,000.

বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা জাতীয় অধ্যাপক ডা. মো. ইব্রাহিম-এর জ্যেষ্ঠ পুত্র লন্ডনপ্রবাসী বিশিষ্ট রিউমেটোলজিস্ট, সমিতির ন্যাশনাল কাউন্সিলের সাবেক সদস্য, বিশিষ্ট সমাজসেবক ও দানশীল ব্যক্তিত্ব ডা. মো. আনোয়ার হোসেন-এর মরদেহ গত ১২ এপ্রিল শুক্রবার সকাল সাড়ে আটটায় এমিরেটস-এর ফ্লাইটযোগে যুক্তরাজ্য থেকে ঢাকায় এসে পৌঁছায়।
তাঁর প্রথম নামাজে জানাজা অনুষ্ঠিত হয় শুক্রবার বেলা সাড়ে এগারটায় বারডেম জেনারেল হাসপাতালে। গুলশান সেন্ট্রাল মসজিদে বাদ জুমা দ্বিতীয় জানাজা শেষে তাঁকে বনানী কবরস্থানে তাঁর বাবা ডা. মোহাম্মদ ইব্রাহিমের কবরে দাফন করা হয়।
উল্লেখ্য, গত ৫ এপ্রিল ২০১৩ শুক্রবার স্থানীয় সময় সকাল ১০ টায় যুক্তরাজ্যের নিউক্যাস্লস্থ নিজ বাসভবনে তিনি ইন্তেকাল করেন (ইন্না লিল¬¬াহে ওয়া ইন্না ইলাইহে রাজেউন)।
১৯৩৬ সালের ২১ ফেব্র“য়ারি ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুর্শিদাবাদ জেলার খাড়েরা গ্রামের পৈতৃক বাড়িতে জন্মগ্রহণকারী এই মহান চিকিৎসক জীবনের সিংহভাগ সময়ই কাটিয়েছেন আর্তমানবতার সেবায়। পিতার স্বপ্নের প্রতিষ্ঠান বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির সাথেও ছিল তাঁর অবিচ্ছেদ্য সম্পৃক্ততা।

বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির অন্যতম প্রকল্প ’কিডনি ও লিভার ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট ইউনিট’ সম্প্রতি সফলভাবে ১০০ কিডনি প্রতিস্থাপন সম্পন্ন করেছে। এ উপলক্ষে গত ১৩ এপ্রিল শনিবার বেলা ১২.৩০ মিনিটে সংশ্লিষ্ট বিশেষজ্ঞ ডাক্তার ও কিডনি প্রতিস্থাপনকৃত রোগীদের এক সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়।
বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির সভাপতি অধ্যাপক এ কে আজাদ খানের সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদশে সরকাররে সমাজকল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয়রে মাননীয় মন্ত্রী এনামুল হক মোস্তফা শহীদ,এমপি।
এতে বক্তব্য রাখনে সমতিরি সহ-সভাপতি ব্যারস্টিার রফকি-উল-হক, মেজর জেনারেল অধ্যাপক এ আর খান, মহাসচবি মোঃ সাইফ উদ্দনি, বারডমে হাসপাতালরে মহাপরচিালক অধ্যাপক নাজমুন নাহার, ’কিডনি ও লিভার ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট ইফনিট’-এর পরিচালক মো. আবুল মনসুর, বারডেমের ক্লিনিক্যাল সার্ভিসেস-এর পরিচালক ও ইউরোলজি বিভাগের প্রধান অধ্যাপক মির্জা মাহবুবুল হাসান।
এ ছাড়াও কিডনি প্রতিস্থাপনকৃত রোগীরাও তাদের অভিজ্ঞতার কথা বর্ণনা করেন।

বারডেম জেনারেল হাসপাতাল-২ (মহিলা ও শিশু) ( ১/১, ইব্রাহিম স্মরণি, সেগুন বাগিচা, ঢাকা )-এর প্রথম প্রতিষ্ঠা বার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে হাসপাতালের বহির্বিভাগে ৩১শে মার্চ, ২০১৩ সকাল ১১.০০ টায় এক আলোচনা সভার আয়োজন করা হয়।
বারডেম জেনারেল হাসপাতালের মহাপরিচালক অধ্যাপক নাজমুন নাহার এর সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠিত উক্ত আলোচনা সভায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসাবে বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশিষ্ট আইনজীবী বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির সহ-সভাপতি ব্যারিস্টার রফিক-উল-হক।
বক্তব্য রাখেন বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির সভাপতি অধ্যাপক এ কে আজাদ খান এবং সমিতির মহাসচিব জনাব মোহাম্মদ সাইফ উদ্দিন।
অনুষ্ঠানে স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন অনুষ্ঠান উদযাপন কমিটির আহ্বায়ক অধ্যাপক আব্দুস সালাম খান এবং বিভাগীয় উপস্থাপনা করেন অধ্যাপক টি এ চৌধুরী, চিফ কনসালটেন্ট, গাইনী ও প্রসূতি বিভাগ, অধ্যাপক রহিমা বেগম, গাইনী ও প্রসূতি বিভাগ, অধ্যাপক তাহমীনা বেগম, শিশু বিভাগ, ডা. কামাল এম, চৌধুরী, পেডিয়াট্রিক সার্জারী বিভাগ, বারডেম।
আলোচনা সভায় বিভিন্ন বিভাগের বিগত এক বছরের কর্মকান্ড তুলে ধরা হয়।
ব্যারিস্টার রফিক-উল-হক বারডেম-২ এর মত বিশেষায়িত হাসপাতাল প্রতিষ্ঠার প্রয়োজনীয়তার উপর গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেন। এ লক্ষ্যে তিনি সরকারের পাশাপাশি বেসরকারী পর্যায়েও সকলকে এগিয়ে আসার আহ্বান জানান।

MoU signed between BGMEA & Diabetic Association of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Garments Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) on 6 March,2013 at BGMEA bhaban. Under the agreement BADAS will provide health service to the employees of the BGMEA member factories through its different organization.
Among others BADAS president Prof AK Azad Khan, vice president Barrister Rafique-Ul Haque, Secretary General Sayef Uddin, BGMEA president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, vice presidents Faruque Hassan, Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Nasir Chowdhury were present in the occasion.
ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির ৫৭ তম প্রতিষ্ঠাবার্ষিকী ও ডায়াবেটিস সচেতনতা দিবস পালন
গত ২৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি, ২০১৩ ডায়াবেটিস সচেতনতা দিবস ও বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির ৫৭ তম প্রতিষ্ঠাবার্ষিকী পালিত হয়েছে।
ডায়াবেটিস সচেতনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচির মধ্যে ছিলো পদযাত্রা, শোভাযাত্রা, জাতীয় জাদুঘর ও ধানমন্ডিস্থ রবীন্দ্র সরোবর এলাকাসহ বিভিন্ন এনএইচএন ও এইচসিডিপি কেন্দ্রে বিনামূল্যে ডায়াবেটিস রোগ নির্ণয়, বারডেম অডিটোরিয়ামে বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসক ও রোগীদের মধ্যে আলোচনা ও প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্ব । এছাড়া দিবসটি উপলক্ষে ’কান্তি’র বিশেষ প্রকাশনা, সচেতনতামূলক পোষ্টার ও লিফলেট প্রকাশ এবং বিতরণ করা হয়েছে।
’শরীরটাকে সচল রাখুন’ স্লোগান নিয়ে উদযাপিত ৫৭ তম প্রতিষ্ঠাবার্ষিকীর আলোচনা অনুষ্ঠানে ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির সভাপতি অধ্যাপক এ কে আজাদ খানের সভাপতিত্বে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন সমাজকল্যাণ মন্ত্রী এনামুল হক মোস্তফা শহীদ। বিশেষ অতিথি ছিলেন ব্যারিষ্টার রফিক উল হক।
মন্ত্রী তার বক্তব্যে বলেন, বিশ্বজুড়ে মারাত্মক আকারে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে ডায়াবেটিস। উন্নত দেশগুলোতেও রোগটি স্বাস্থ্য খাতে সমস্যা সৃষ্টি করছে। তবে এ সম্পর্কে মানুষের সচেতনতা বাড়ছে। তিনি আরও বলেন, সর্বত্র ডায়াবেটিস প্রতিরোধ সংক্রান্ত কর্মসূচি বাড়াতে হবে। সরকারি-বেসরকারি অংশীদারিত্বের মাধ্যমে এ রোগের বিরুদ্ধে সম্মিলিত প্রতিরোধ গড়ে তুলতে হবে। ব্যারিষ্টার রফিকুল হক শিক্ষা ও স্বাস্থ্য খাতে উন্নয়নের জন্য সরকারের পাশাপাশি বেসরকারি ব্যক্তিদের এগিয়ে আসার আহবান জানান। অনুষ্ঠানে আদর্শ ডায়াবেটিক রোগীদের মধ্যে অভিন্দনপত্র ও ক্রেস্ট বিতরণ করা হয় ।

In association with Endocrine Society BADAS organized the 18th Diabetes and Endocrine Conference along with 6 satellite symposia in December 20l2. About 800 participants from home and abroad participated in the event. Various fields related to Diabetes and Endocrine has been focused here. Scientists from home and abroad presented 43 papers in various sessions.

Asian Network of Research on Antidiabetic Plants (ANRAP)

With support from BIRDEM and BIHS, ANRAP organized the 3rd Indian National Seminar at ANRAP on ‘Plant Malerlas as a Source of Antidiabetic Agents‘, was held in Kolkata, India on 14-16 September 2012. Twenty participants from various institutions of BADAS presented papers.
