Distance Learning Project
A Joint Prevention program of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) & University of Oslo, Norway to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes in Person with Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) .It is 18 months long study program and subjects are enrolled into 6 different group to assess the outcome of different intervention models (by both lifestyle intervention and oral medications) to prevent diabetes among high risk group in Bangladesh.

Activities of the Project
- Completed enrolment of 1800 subjects for this study
- Organized mass awareness program in community level-10
- Development of Prevention Guide Book in Bangla - 1
- Development of Poster and leaflets – 5
- Development of project website (www.badas-dpis.org)
- Completed a 10 yrs follow up study in Chandra, Gazipur under this project
- Going to start a 3 yrs long multicentre study program on “Effect of maternal health on pregnancy outcome & glucose homeostasis of the offspring” from 15th March 2011, finance by European Union and University of Oslo.
Achievement
- Select study partner of World Diabetes Prevention Forum (active in diabetes prevention).
