Course Aims

To impart knowledge for understanding and appreciation of the importance and scope of public health as a key discipline. To provide background knowledge for assisting with the identification and prioritization of health problems in the community. To impart training for developing research and learning skills necessary to assist with the development and implementation of action and intervention strategy for implementing public health. To complement and to promote the teaching curriculum in Public Health education in a way that will secure national, regional and international collaboration as well as establishing Public Health research as a prime discipline of medical education and health services

Course organization

Each credit =15 hrs for teaching.
Each credit = 25 hrs for practical assignments, group works and
group discussion

Course Structure

MPH
All MPH courses are divided into two parts with 30 credits each : Part-I from 0 - 6 months: This part serves to provide a foundation to all students irrespective of the area of specialization chosen by them. Part-II from 7-12 months: This part is designed for specialized training in respective fields of public health chosen by the students. During The last ten weeks of the course i.e. middle of part II the students are required to work for their dissertations. At the end of each part, examination under University of Dhaka will be held.

MPhil
All MPhil courses are divided into 3 parts with 120 credits in total:
Part-I from 0-6 months: This part serves to provide a foundation to all students irrespective of the area of specialization chosen by them.
Part-II from 7-12 months: This part is designed for specialized training in respective fields of public health chosen by the students.
Part-III from 13-24 months: In the third (Final) part, the student shall undertake a research work in an area of public health interest under the guidance of a supervisor.
