Manpower Development Initiatives

The organization realizes that there is a shortage of skilled manpower in both medical and technical field in the country. So DAB is working with the vision to create skilled manpower in medical and in technical field. To meet this end, BIRDEM Academy and Ibrahim Medical College has been established.

Formal Education: Ibrahim Medical College offers 5 years' MBBS course as approved by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council, leading to MBBS degree of the University of Dhaka and one year's internship training at BIRDEM Hospital. DAB is running some postgraduate courses under University of Dhaka like: DEM, MPhil, MS, MD, PhD etc. DAB is also going to establish Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS) at Darus Salam, Mirpur area.

Informal Education: Distance Learning Programme (DLP) is a project of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh to run distance learning course with a view to develop manpower in the field of diabetes trough out the country.The course was introduced in collaboration with the open University, UK in 2004.The Duration of these courses is six months(January-June & July-December Session).DAB also offer other short courses.
