One of the major obstacles in organizing proper health care services in Bangladesh is the scarcity of qualified and skilled human resources. Primarily driven by its own requirement, but also to support the health sector in general, BADAS took initiative to develop medical and paramedical manpower. with graduate (MBBS) course in IMC, BSc Hons Laboratory Technology Course in BISH, Nursing Course in Faridpur Diabetes Hospitals and 3 Postgraduate Diploma & 13 Postgraduate courses in BIRDEM Academy, BADAS already became the largest health related human resources generating organization in the country next to the Government.
In FY 2008-2009 an additional milestone was created with the inroduction of 3 MPH and 3 MPhil Courses in BIHS in Public health Disciplines under the University of Dhaka (only courses under public university outside NIPSOM). The initiative was supported by the NOMA Program of the University of Oslo. Preparation for starting MBBS courses in Faridpur Medical College (under Faridpur Diabetic Somiti) has also been completed in this year. The advancement of regional hospital of HCDP (under Sirajgonj Association) also gave a boost to the North Bngal Medical College (NBMC) and it is becoming an attractive institute to the students
Apart from the formal programs (which are all conducted under the University of Dhaka except MBBS program in NBMC which is affiliated to Rajshahi University) a number of training and informal/certificate courses were conducted in this year in various BIs/AAs
