Ibrahim Medical College (IMC)
Course offered & affiliation
The college offers 5 years’ MBBS Course as approved by BM&DC leading
to MBBS degree of the University of Dhaka. The college has been accorded
permission by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government
of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh and is affiliated with the University
of Dhaka and recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
Teaching Hospitals
The Teaching Hospitals of the College include internationally reputed
600 bedded multi-disciplinary BIRDEM Hospital, Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital
& Research Institute (ICHR) and other Health Care Institutes of Bangladesh
Diabetic Association.
Academic faculty
Academic Faculty in both College & Hospital now consists of 138 full-time
members-blend of a distinguished body of academics with proven teaching
& research excellence and younger professionals with varied experience.
The eight academic departments of the College namely the Department of
Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology,
Forensic Medicine and community Medicine have 31 Full time members and
two part-time members. They include 12 Professors, 8 Associate Professors
and 11 Assistant Professors . Academic Faculty of Teaching Hospital consisting
of 28 Professors, 26 Associate Professors, 28 Assistant Professors, 20
Registrars, 2 Resident Physicians and 3 Resident Surgeons are also the
Academic staff of Ibrahim Medical College and are participating in academic
programmes of the college.
