At present approximately 10% of the total diabetic patients are registered, where it is apprehended that there are almost 5%-6% of the total population are diabetic patients. In this situation, DAB has able to give services to only 25% of the total diabetic patients. It is planned by the DAB that, by the year 2010, about 50% of the total diabetic population will be brought under comprehensive diabetic care.
During the next few years’ emphasis will be given to increase the facilities to cover at least 50% diabetic patients of the country.
DAB is also trying to create local leadership to decentralize the diabetic care in the periphery.
